Behaviour Consultations

Chloe will visit you and your horse at your yard for a private consultation. She will collect as much information as possible about your horse, their environment, management, training, and any other problems you may be experiencing to be able to create an individual training plan to resolve the problem. You will be supported for 1 month following the initial consultation via telephone or email.

Many problems can be resolved after one consultation with small management changes. However, you and your horse’s safety and welfare is the main principle throughout training, therefore, Chloe cannot guarantee quick fixes as these methods are likely not addressing the main cause of the behaviour. Some problems may require follow up sessions at an additional cost.

Behaviour consultations: £120

Follow up training sessions: £35

Written report: £35

There is an additional cost of 50p per additional mile 20 miles outside of the SG2 area. Reduced fees are available to registered equine charities and NHS workers

  • Step 1. Before the initial consultation

Contact Chloe if you would like to arrange a consultation and briefly describe the issue you are experiencing.

Chloe will send an email to talk about how she can help you and your horse, if you wish to continue, you will be sent a questionnaire to complete. This asks about you, your horse, and the behavioural issue. This must be completed and returned at least 24 hours before the initial consultation.

Please note: Chloe may ask you to contact your vet prior to the initial consultation if one has not been to see your horse already. This is to eliminate pain as being the cause, as pain can be the cause of many behavioural issues.

  • Step 2. On the day

Chloe will visit you and the consultation will last around 2 hours. This time allows Chloe to observe your horse’s environment and collect any further information to assist in understanding the cause of the behavioural issue. Training and changes in management may be discussed and implemented.

  • Step 3. After the initial consultation

Chloe will create a bespoke behaviour modification plan/management plan, guidance on how to follow this plan and provide you with any resources that you will find useful based on the behavioural issue you are experiencing.

Training Sessions

These training sessions will be useful if you are having difficulty with a specific handling issue or would just like to develop your training skills. These sessions will focus on what you would like to achieve.

Chloe can provide you with training techniques and mentor you until you are confident to carry them out on your own.

You may require sessions to improve your horse’s confidence with vet, farrier, or dentist visits, backing, groundwork, clipping, loading etc. Depending on the stage your horse is at, or the severity of the issue, more than one session may be required.

If you have already had an initial consultation with Chloe, these sessions will allow you to work through the individual training plan created for your horse together.

Training session: £35

Block of 5 sessions: £160

There is an additional cost of 50p per additional mile 20 miles outside of the SG2 area. Reduced fees are available to registered equine charities and NHS workers

“The main principles of teaching is understanding how horses learn, the individual differences of a horse and ruling out pain to maximise learning and the human-horse relationship in training sessions”
